You may have wondered if there is any difference at all between authority sites and niche sites. Some would argue that the differences are quite striking, while others would say that they’re the same. The simple answer is that it depends on who you ask and how they define a niche and authority site. Because many of the definitions overlap to some degree, it’s easy to blur the lines between niche sites, micro-niche sites, authority sites, affiliate sites, and the rest.

Authority Sites

One of the biggest things that you might notice straight away about authority sites is that they tend to have a lot of content. A lot. They have an open-ended content goal, meaning that these types of sites intend on publishing content into perpetuity. They also tend to post content on a schedule and cover a variety of niches related to their core ideals. For instance, with Best Blogger Outreach Service an herbalism blog would cover topics including but not limited to, case studies, in-depth analyses of individual herbs, foraging herbs responsibly, and kitchen herbalism.

Niche Sites

Niche sites, on the other hand, do not have nearly as many pages as an authority site. We’re talking 20 pages on a niche site versus 50 or more pages on an authority site. Niche sites have a much more narrow focus. Think fish tanks instead of all things aquarium fish. This is a much smaller topic and exhausting it isn’t all that difficult of a task. Niche sites also have a tendency of earning less than authority sites. Niche content grows in a more linear fashion and isn’t one bit concerned with creating a loyal following. It just wants to be the content of choice in its arena. This makes it easy to monetize, simple to automate and a breeze to outsource.

The Pros, Cons and in Between

The pros and cons of these two types of sites are in the eye of the beholder. Depending on your goals for your site, one may be preferable to the other. It all depends on what you’re comfortable with and the audience you’re trying to reach. Are you looking for big traffic to boost your ad revenue outlook? Are you looking to encourage visitors to patronize your products? Do you want to be locked into a regular schedule? How many writers will you have?

Do you want completely original content or will you be rewriting existing content? These are just some of the questions you’ll want to assess if you’re trying to choose between these two options.

Because these two terms aren’t necessarily mutually exclusive, each can transform into the other. In fact, authority sites start off as niche sites in a way. Just about everything has humble beginnings.

Both will require your time and energy; however, if you play your sites right, you may be able to manage multiple sites to create the earnings that you’re after. Keep in mind that quality is also important. One of the main reasons people browse the Internet is to find the answers to their questions. Which site is best for your goals is completely up to you to decide. Keep in mind that there are lots of ways to go about creating, expanding, and downsizing. You can change gears at any point.
