Start with a Great Diet

Your child’s immune system might be compromised if it is continually being bombarded with sugar, additives, preservatives, and others. You need to focus on giving your child a healthy diet with lots of fruits and vegetables. They contain phytonutrients that increase the production of infection-fighting cells in the body that will protect them from infections and also from chronic diseases as they grow old.

Proper Sleep Time

Sleep deprivation can make your child susceptible to illnesses. When children are in school or daycares, all of the different activities and the energy can make it difficult for them to take a proper nap. Children need anything between 10 to 13 hours of sleep a day. If your child does not have naps during the day, it is best to get them to bed early at night. The quality of sleep that they get also matters a lot. So, make sure that there are no electronic devices in the same room where they are sleeping.

Guarding against Germs

Even though fighting germs do not boost the immune system, it helps control the stress put on the child’s immune system. Encourage your child to wash their hands often with soap more often. Make it a routine to ask them to wash their hands before and after every meal, after handling pets, coming from outside and using the bathroom. If you are out with the kids, carry disposable wipes at all times. Use colorful and scented hand wash to help kids get into a habit of cleaning their hands at home.

Fever Helps Fight Infections

Many parents have the habit of getting worried as soon as their child gets a temperature. Many times, fever is just the body’s reaction to an infection, and it boosts their immune system. A fever will kick start your child’s immune system and increase the production of germ-fighting cells in the body. It has been seen that when a child is exposed to new viruses during their early days, they will get less and less sick as they grow up.

Exercise as a Family

Exercising regularly can help boost your child’s immunity. However, just urging them to go outside to play is not enough, and most kids will not listen. You need to go out and exercise with them or just play for a while. Take them to the park or playground where they can play with other kids. You can also sign them up in different activities such as skating, swimming, basketball, tennis, and others to make sure that they are getting a good amount of exercise.

The early years of your child are quite crucial in developing their immune system. With just a few tips, you can help build your child’s immune system and lay a solid foundation for good health as they grow older. Remember that not everything might be work for your child, so pick the ones you feel will be good for them and follow them.
