Featured in NationalViews 50 Under 50, Javed Shaikh represents a new generation of global founders who are blending science, sustainability, and social impact. An Indian-origin entrepreneur based in Canada, Mr. Javed Shaikh is the visionary founder of DeepBlue Greens Canada and the CEO of Flexiponics India, leading innovations across agriculture and climate-resilient food systems.
A prolific innovator, from pioneering Plasma Agriculture to advancing Innovative Climate-Control methods in greenhouses, Javed’s journey is not just about technology—it’s about reimagining how leadership, innovation, and responsibility can shape the future of farming worldwide. His work across Canada, India, and the Middle East positions him as a founder building solutions for global food security.
In this NationalViews 50 Under 50 interview, we focus on the man behind the mission—his journey, leadership philosophy, and vision for India’s agricultural future.
Q1. Mr. Javed, your journey spans countries, industries, and disciplines. What shaped you as a founder?
Javed Shaikh: My journey has been driven by curiosity and responsibility. Growing up with roots in India and later working globally, I saw firsthand how food systems, health, and climate are deeply interconnected. I didn’t want to build just another company—I wanted to solve problems that matter. Being a founder means constantly learning, unlearning, and aligning innovation with real human needs, especially for farmers and communities.
Q2. You are known today for Plasma Agriculture, but at the core, what problem are you trying to solve as a leader?
Mr. Shaikh: At the core, I’m trying to solve trust and sustainability in agriculture. Farmers are overburdened with chemicals, rising costs, and unpredictable climate conditions. As a founder, my role is to restore balance—between nature and technology, profit and purpose. Plasma agriculture is one tool, but the larger goal is resilient farming that protects soil, water, and livelihoods.
Q3. How does DeepBlue Greens Canada and Flexiponics India reflect your broader vision?
Mr. Shaikh: Deep blue Greens focuses on sustainable farming systems, while Flexiponics focuses on developing agricultural systems that are climate-resilient. Together, the two companies are solving some of the most urgent problems facing global food production. What we eat determines our health, and how we grow food determines the planet’s future. As a founder, I see both companies as impact platforms—not just commercial entities.
Q4. You’ve worked across Canada, the Middle East and India. How has global exposure shaped your leadership style?
Javed Shaikh: Global exposure teaches humility. Every region has unique challenges, but the fundamentals remain the same—scarcity of resources, need for efficiency, and respect for local wisdom. I lead by listening first. Whether it’s a farmer in the strawberry fields of Mahabaleshwar or a Wheat Researcher in Canada, collaboration is key. Leadership today is less about authority and more about alignment.
Q5. Agricultural Researchers in India are watching your work closely. What excites you most about India’s agri-ecosystem?
Mr. Shaikh: India has scale, diversity, and a young innovation mindset. What excites me most is the openness to change—startups, scientists, and farmers are willing to experiment. I see immense opportunity to collaborate with Indian startups, CSIR labs, universities, and state agriculture departments to co-create solutions tailored for Indian agricultural conditions.
Q6. Your background in Plant Physiology is often mentioned. How important is scientific grounding for founders today?
Javed Shaikh: Extremely important. Vision without science is imagination; and science without imagination is limited. My background in Physics and Plant Physiology helps me ask the right questions and evaluate solutions critically. Founders working in climate, health, or agriculture must respect data, biology, and long-term impact—not just short-term returns.
Q7. Mr. Javed Shaikh, As a NationalViews 50 Under 50 leader, what message do you have for young Indian founders and innovators?
Mr. Shaikh: Build with purpose. Don’t chase trends—chase problems worth solving. India doesn’t just need more startups; it needs responsible founders who think globally but act locally. If your innovation can improve lives, protect nature, and still be scalable, you’re on the right path.
Javed Shaikh’s journey exemplifies what NationalViews 50 Under 50 stands for—founders who combine vision, integrity, and global impact. From sustainable agriculture to climate-smart leadership, his work is shaping the future of food and farming beyond borders.
