Lubriprostone: This medication is very beneficial for the people suffering from IBS with constipation as the prime symptom. It not only improves severe constipation but also helps to recover the stool consistency and abdominal discomfort or pain.

Antispasmodics: Cimetropium, pinaverium and hyoscine are the antispasmodics which help in reducing abdominal discomfort and controlling colon muscle spasms.

Antidiarrheals: A strong antidiarrheal such as Loperamide has been seen to work efficiently in reducing the problem of irritable bowel syndrome. It improves the consistency of the stool by sluggish stool movement all the way through colon and also reduces the frequency of the stool drastically.
