Tonight the moon you’ll witness will not be the same. The reason being today’s moon will have reddish hues in it and will appear slightly bigger than usual.
A rare phenomenon, ‘this’ happened in 1982 and won’t happen till 2033. The moon is likely to be 30% brighter and 14% larger.

Why does The Moon Appear Reddish?
According to Dr. Sarah Noble of NASA, the moon appears brighter and bigger because we can witness almost all the sunsets and sunrises all at once around the globe which reflects on the surface of the moon.
Can We Witness It By Our Naked Eyes? Is It Safe?
Yes, we can indeed watch the blood moon with our naked eyes as no special equipment is needed to witness it.
Also, it is absolutely safe. In case, you cannot see the rare phenomenon because of bad weather then you can see the live telecast of the super blood moon on NASA TV
Why Does Blood Moon Occur?
It is all because of the earth and the sun. Here, actually the earth’s shadow falls upon the moon. Now, this shadow is illuminated because the light of the sun hits the earth’s extremities, turning the atmosphere red. It is this red glow that brightens up the moon’s surface.
According to the experts at NASA the actual color depends on what is floating in the atmosphere of the earth.
Who Will Be the Lucky Ones?
Well, not all the countries can witness this rare phenomenon. Only North America, South America, Africa, Eastern Pacific, Europe and West Asia can witness this. However, the rest too will witness some changes as the moon will not look as white as it appears normally
