A lot has been talked about Hotstar’s Special Ops now that everybody seems to be binge watching it along with other web series during the Corona lockdown period in India. While, I enjoyed watching all the eight episodes in a go, there are people who have been complaining about the series being too stretched. However, despite the different taste of the viewers, one thing was common – Well viewers loved both the main as well as the supporting cast of this action thriller.
So, here we tell you everything about the Special Ops cast including their real names, background and their previous works in the industry –
Sajjad Delafrooz as
Hafiz Ali, the Baddie
The handsome soft-spoken antagonist Hafiz Ali is essayed by Sajjad Delafrooz who was born in Iran but raised in Dubai, UAE. This is not the first time Sajjad has portrayed a full-fledged villainous role. Earlier, he was seen as a baddie (Abu Usman) in Salman Khan starrer Tiger Zinda Hai. Over the years, Sajjad Delafrooz did several short movies including ‘The Orphange’, ‘The Choice’, ‘A Letter’ and a Danish TV series, ‘Follow the Money’.
Rajat Kaul as
Ismail Hassan
Rajat Kaul looks totally a fresh new face as he portrays the role of Ismail Hassan in Special Ops web series. Interestingly, this isn’t his first web series. If you have watched Indian version of 24, he was seen playing the role of Gajavathanan and Max Ferraro in Season 1. He was also seen playing the role of Syam in Amazon Prime’s Mind the Malhotras. He has been a part of few Bollywood movies including Jazbaa, Ungli and Cabaret.
Sana Khan as Sonya –
Ismail Ki Sonya
Ever since she became the second runner up of Bigg Boss 6, Sana has been a popular face on TV. Here she is seen playing the role of Sonya. Although she made her debut in 2005 with a low-profile Hindi movie, she has starred in several south movies including Telugu, Kannada, Tamil and Malyalam. She is born and brought up in Mumbai and did the infamous Amul Macho ad film way back in 2007 that created quite a controversy.
Vipul Gupta as
Bala, the Chef in Special Ops
Remember Rakesh Bhavnani of Hrithik Roshan starrer Lakshya or Jagat Singh of the most recent 2020 film Tanhaji? Well that’s none other than Vipul Gupta who is seen playing the role of chef Bala aka Balakrishnan Reddy in the series. Over the years Vipul has been main lead of many TV serials including his debut K Street Pali Hill, India Calling, Meri Bhabhi, Star Plus’ Aarambh and Ek Nayi Choti Si Zindagi.
Meher Vij as Ruhani
Sayyed
From Bajrangi Bhaijaan to Secret Superstar we have seen Meher Vij as that adoring young mother of Bollywood and it was indeed interesting to see her in an action role fighting the goons as Ruhani Sayyed. Vij made her debut in 2003 with the movie Saaya where she played a cameo role and over the years did both TV as well as films. She is married to Manav Vij who was applauded for his role in Udta Punjab and Rangoon. He will soon be seen along with Aamir Khan in Laal Singh Chadha.
Special Ops Cast: Muzammil Ibrahim as Agent Avinash
Many have been asking about the dashing agent Avinash from Special Ops cast. Well, the handsome young man is an ace Indian Model who won the Gladrags Manhunt content in 2003. Born and brought up in Jammu Kashmir, Muzammil is also the recipient of National bravery award which he was awarded at the age of 8 from saving a drowning kid. Over the years, he has walked ramps for several shows and have been a show stopper for various fashion designers. He was seen in few movies – Dhoka, Horn Ok Please and Will You Marry Me?
Saiyami Kher as Travel Agent Juhi Kashyap
The role of travel agent Juhi in Hotstar’s Special Ops is played by Saiyami Kher. Saiyami is the one who debuted with Harshvardhan Kapoor in Mirzya in 2016. Although this movie was a Box Office disaster her Marathi debut movie Mauli with Riteish Deshmukh in 2018 was quite a blockbuster. Special Ops is Saiyami’s first web series. Saiyami’ is yesteryear actress Usha Kiran’s grand daughter and Tanvi Azmi’s niece.
Karan Tacker as
Farooq Ali
One of the main star cast of Special ops, Farooq Ali aka Amjad aka Rashid s essayed by Karan Tacker, a popular face of Indian TV serial. He has been quite a name for his roles in popular TV serials – Ek Haazaron Mai Meri Behna Hai, Iss Pyar Ko Mai Kya Naam Doon and Punar Vivaah. He has hosted reality TV shows as well – The Voice, Nach Baliye, Halla Bol and Amazon Prime’s The Remix.
Gautami Kapoor as
Saroj – Himmat Singh’s Wife
Himmat Singh’s wife Saroj is TV’s popular and most beloved actress Gautami Kapoor who over the years have been applauded for her several roles including Ghar Ek Mandir with her husband Ram Kapoor, Kehta Hai Dil, Lipstick, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Parvarish and Tere Sheher Mai. She has been part of Bollywood movies as well – Fanaa, Kuch Na Kaho, Shaadi Ke Side Effects and Student of the Year.
Kay Kay Menon as
Himmat Singh
The RAW officer Himmat Singh, the main protagonist of Hotstar’s Special Ops is played by the beloved Kay Kay Menon who needs no introduction. He has been ruling our hearts since 2003 till date with his acting in several films including Hazaroon Khwaishein Aisi, Black Friday, Sarkar, Corporate, Honeymoon Travels, Life in a Metro, Shahid, Haider etc. Kay Kay started his career in theatre and later moved to Bollywood in 1995 with a small role in move Naseem. He is married to actress Nivedita Bhattacharya.
