Here are the Reasons Why the Veterans Rejected OROP – One Rank One Pension Plan!

What the Government Offered – The OROP will be effective from 1st July 2014.

Why the Veterans Rejected – The effective date of the OROP should be 1st April 2014 not 1st July.

What the Government Offered – According to the government’s proposal, the One Rank One Pension Plan will be an average of minimum and maximum pension scale and the base year of implementation will be year 2013.

Why the Veterans Rejected – The Veterans do not want the average of minimum and maximum but demand that the base for the pension should be maximum of the pension scale.

What the Government Offered – The pension would be revised every 5 years with base year as 2013

Why the Veterans Rejected – According to the veterans the pension should be re-fixed after every 1 year and not 5 years.

What the Government Offered – 1 Member Judicial Commission Will Submit the Report in Every 6 Months.

Why the Veterans Rejected – The veterans want 5 Member Committee having 3 veterans under Defence Minister to submit the report in every 1 month and not 6 months.

What the Government Offered – Defense Personnel who voluntarily retired will not be given the OROP benefit.

Why the Veterans Rejected – As maximum of the defense personnel (85%) retire voluntarily the veterans are against this clause too.

The Veterans are thankful to the Narendra Modi Government for listening to their plea. However, they are not too keen to accept the proposal and want the OROP as per their demands. All the veterans and ex-servicemen will now intensify their protest further until their demands are fulfilled by the government.
