All About UDAN Scheme: The Knowhow of the  Route and The Booking Sites to Avail Affordable Air Tickets!

Launched on April 27, 2017 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the scheme aims to connect unserved and underserved airports of India with maximum Rs. 2500 for an hour journey on an aircraft or for a 30 minute journey on a chopper.

The scheme aims to connect 70 airports of the country over 20 states and Union territories including Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Puducherry. The airports that would connected under the UDAN scheme includes Shimla, Nanded, Bhatinda, Bilaspur, Neyveli, Kadapa and Cooch Behar.

At  present, UDAN flights with cheap air fares are available on Delhi-Shimla, Kadapa-Hyderabad and Nanded-Hyderabad sectors.

And the scheme would operate on the following routes:

8    Bikaner to Delhi
9    Agra to Jaipur
10    Jaisalmer to Jaipur
11    Agartala to Shillong
12    Aizwal to Shillong
13    Dimapur to Shillong
14    Imphal    to Shillong
15    Silchar    to Shillong
16    Burnpur to Kolkata
17    Cooch Behar to Kolkata
18    Durgapur to Kolkata
19    Jamshedpur to Kolkata
20    Rourkela to Kolkata
21    Hyderabad to Puducherry
22    Salem    to Puducherry
23    Chennai to Puducherry
24    Diu to Ahmedabad
25    Dwarka to Ahmedabad
26    Jamnagar to Ahmedabad
27    Mundra to Ahmedabad
28    Kandla    to Mumbai
29    Porbandar to Mumbai
30    Jalgaon to Mumbai

Spice Jet, Alliance Air (Air India’s subsidiary), Air Odisha, True Jets and Air Deccan are five airlines that would operate under UDAN schemes. You can book cheap air tickets from the websites of these five airlines and through sites like MakeMyTrip and Yatra.com.

Now that the flight prices are cheap under UDAN scheme, families and travel enthusiast can plan a perfect holiday to the above destination – Shimla, Agra, Kullu in North to Puducherry, Hyderabad in South, Imphal, Agartala, Dimapur, Shillong in North-East and then Diu, Dwarka and Jamnagar in West. With affordable airfares, you do not have to tradeoff sacrificing a chunk of your holiday!

For a balanced growth, the routes under the UDAN scheme is spread equally across the five geographical regions of the country to encourage airlines to fly cheap even to unconnected smaller towns at affordable costs. Moreover, the scheme also reduces the travel time in hilly as well as remote areas significantly.
