Summer is the perfect time to set off to a hill station to enjoy some cool breeze away from the hustle-bustle of the city life. It is the ideal time to get close to the mother nature. While, there are many summer attractions in India to travel and explore, the place that attracts most of the Indians and foreigners alike in India during the summer season is Ooty.

How to Reach Ooty?

You can either start from Bangalore, Mysore and Chennai and take a KSRTC bus to Ooty or fly all the way to Coimbatore by booking your ticket from any Domestic Airlines. Ooty is hardly 96 km away from Coimbatore and can be reached easily via car.

Alternatively, you can also reach Ooty by Train. The nearest station is Mettupalayam which is only 40 km from Ooty. There are many trains connecting to Mettupalayam from Coimbatore, Mysore, Bangalore and Chennai. From Mettupalayam station, you can either catch a cab or board the Nilgiri Mountain train – a heritage train that takes you to an exciting journey.

Itinerary For Ooty

Day 1 – Arrive at Ooty. Relax and unwind yourself as you enjoy the weather and the beautiful location. Check in and gear up for the next day fun and sight seeing.

Day 2 (First Half) – Visit the famous Botanical Garden and Rose Garden. Explore the place as you walk up and down in this gorgeous garden. In the garden premises, also, check out the Raj Bhawan. If you are fond of capturing nature, you’ll simply love the place. Situated in around 22 acres, the garden has various species of plants.

Day 2 (Second Half) – Go Boating. Yes, reach Ooty lake and start boating. You can either pedal all through the lake or sit in the motor boat. Both, children and adults love spending time in the lake as it is surrounded amidst beautiful trees.

Day 3 – Let your destination be Dodabetta peak – A must visit place when you visit Ooty. Situated at a height of 2623 m, it is the highest peak in the Nilgiris. A panoramic view from 2623 m will surely delight you as you stand tall and witness the picturesque aerial beauty of Ooty.

While, climbing down, visit the Tea Factory where you’ll see how the Nilgiri tea is manufactured in the factory. From step one to the final packing, you can see the entire process live in the factory. You can also buy Nilgiri tea with flavours from here.

Day 4 – Simply explore the place, the beautiful lanes of ooty. Eat your lunch at Earl’s Secret Ooty in King’s Cliff. Walk down the slope, enjoy the nature, the beauty of the place. Splurge your money in some home made chocolates, take some souvenir in the form of chocolates, and tea.
