So, the new currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 2000 are already in. Now that these notes are new and completely different, here we share the design and security features in the bank notes that will help you to identify whether the notes are real or fake.

Front View (From left to right)

  1. There is a see through register. It has denomination numeral (2000 or 500 depending on which currency note it is).

  2. Below the see through register, there is a latent image. The latent image too has a denominational number. (2000 or 500 depending on which currency note it is).
  3. You can see the denominational numeral in Devnagari lipi with Rupee symbol (vertical).
  4. Right at the centre there is a portrait of Mahatma Gandhi.
  5. Towards the left side, you can see micro letters “RBI” and the denominational numeral.
  6. Security threads with the inscription ‘Bharat’, ‘numeral’ and ‘RBI’ along with the color shift. This the color of the currency notes modifies to blue from green when the bank note is tilted.
  7. The Governor’s signature with Government Clause and Promise Clause along with RBI Emblem
  8. Electrotype watermarks
  9. A panel of numbers from small to big on the bottom right as well as top left side of the bank note.
  10. You can see the denominational numeral in English with Rupee symbol (Green color).

  11. On the extreme right, there is Ashoka Pillar emblem on the note.

  13. There are 7 angular bleed lines on the right as well as left sides for the visually impaired in 200 notes and there are 5 angular bleed lines on the right as well as left sides for the visually impaired in the 500 notes (see 20 in the 500 note photo).

  1. Towards the left, you can see the Year of Printing (horizontal)
  2. You can see the Swachh Bharat logo (The Gandhi specs) along with the slogan.
  3. Towards the centre, there is a language panel in the rectangular box.
