Let me introduce you to an alarming economic crisis of our time-punishment to kids in Indian schools. In my career, I have almost interacted with many lovely pupils and their parents. They have only one complaint – my son or daughter is not doing well especially in Mathematics and Science.

Now imagine how these sweet disciples of primary schools are getting affected by a dangerous bug called punishment by teachers. Ultimately it inculcates a kind of fear psychology in their young minds which lead them to the path of turmoil or crime.

Punishments in Indian Schools: A Bad Side of Our Education System

Believe it or not, there are other issues laying in our society but this is most crucial because the school career is deemed to be a carving stepping stone and we are the mentors. I am writing in bad mood. Who do I blame? The parents, the principal or the teacher’s action or Ministry of Education? It hurts to my brain.

The existence of punishment in schools reflects a bad side of the education system. It reflects the failure to build better nation-better responsible citizens.

Some countries have withdrawn the practice of corporal punishment at school for over a hundred years. This should be banned. In fact, it is we need to convert punishments into alternatives otherwise there is no room for Modi’s Vision 2020 here.

First, we need to ban physical abuse and harsh words as teachers because charity begins at home. If somebody is always late then the whole class can clap so that the kid realizes the importance of time management.

Believe me, if somebody is not doing his/her assignments then ask the kid to spend more time in yoga and meditation.

It can bring
miracle, damn sure of it. Edutainment is the only game which would prove wonders. Instead of fear, hatred, and nepotism, let’s opt for laughing. We need to eradicate these evils from our education mechanism.

Our education system has a gap, if the way we raise our kids in the current orthodox methods, then the next generation will only bring ISIS back. Yeah, ISIS is around the corner to recruit Indian minds. Yeah, there is a mega crisis. Yes, there are disputes between the India and Pakistan and yeah, instructors have not received salaries for months on end. But no punishment to children at school. It is shameful.

Let’s stop this devastation from the beginning itself. We have to keep our kids as much busy as possible.

And every new initiation should be a value addition to their skills. I advocate in favor of the fact that –
everyone starting from directors/principals to peon/security guards should be a counselor in Indian schools. They should practice empathy.

A request to Narendra Modi-shape the kids-nation will be saved. Kindly see the actual implementation Modiji.
