Star India has declared its ambition to be a billion dollar company by 2020. India‘s population stands at 1.3 billion and there is a global audience for Indian TV shows.
It will be easy for Star India to reach their ambition and even go lot higher if their channels are inclusive of diversified interests and not remain struck in the rut with endless streams of regressive and absurd saas-bahu & revenge melodramas!

Flagship Hindi channel GEC has shown it can reach new audience segments with a trendy show like Manmarziyaan -> an enviable and hard to get combo – GenX + Millennials worldwide!
Question now is why is StarPlus hastily terminating Manmarziyaan after just 4 months?
- Know how to estimate correctly its viewership for Manmarziyan
- Want to offer diversified content – add in new and modern stories that appeal to new population mixes.
- Offer shows realtime on Hotstar platform – accessible to a global audience.
Star Plus image is getting battered with its decision to end Manmarziyan – among a very vocal and influential segment … It is not a brilliant move.
Time is still there .. Star Plus should revise its decision and continue with new experiments and especially Manmarziyan. We would see that as a harbinger of good things to come for StarPlus, StarIndia and other Indian TV broadcasters!
