Sheena Bora murder case is getting mushier day by day as one tries to figure out who is who and who is connected to whom, and in which way.
First, the arrest of Indrani Mukherjea (wife of Peter Mukherjea, former CEO of Star India), then the revelation that the victim is not her sister but daughter and now the arrest of her ex-husband in Kolkata, the case is getting inexplicable and bizarre day by day.
Here we share certain facts that you need to know about the murder case:
Sheena Bora came to Mumbai with Indrani in 1990s. She completed her B.A. from St. Xaviers College, Mumbai.
In 2011, Sheena got a job with Reliance Group. However, suddenly Sheena sopped going to her office. During the end of 2011 even her Facebook account was deactivated.
Year 2012
On the fateful day, Sheena Bora was kidnapped from National College Bandra and then the murderers brought her from Mumbai to Raigad area to kill her.
Sheena was first strangulated and then burnt by using petrol according to the statements of Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria. The murder took place on April 24, 2012.
The body of Sheena was then filled in a suitcase and dumped in a slippery slope near the Pen – Khopoli Road. The area where the body was dumped is accessed only by foot.
Few days later, the inhabitants of Pen Tehsil village Gagode complained of a foul odour coming from the area. The Raigad Police then unearthed remains of a decomposed body on May 23, 2012
Sheena Bora went missing and Indrani Mukherjea told everyone that she has gone to the United States for higher studies.
Rahul, (Peter Mukherjea’s son from previous marriage) who was dating Sheena even expressed his displeasure to his father that Sheena went to the United States without even telling him.
August 2015
August 21 – The Mumbai police detained a Vakola resident Shyam Manohar Rai in illegal arm case surrounding an “unidentified” pistol. He turned out to be Indrani Mukerjea’s driver. During the time of the police interrogation, Shyam revealed the details of a burnt body dumped in Pen – Khopoli road.
The driver then revealed how he and Indrani murdered Sheena Bora with the help of their accomplice. He also told the Police that Indrani was the mastermind of the whole plan.
Mubai police didn’t believe him first. However, when they contacted the Raigad police they founded the remains at the same spot as mentioned by the driver. The remains were then brought to Mumai and is now gone for forensic investigation.
August 25 – The Khar Police arrested Indrani in connection with the murder of Sheena Bora from her Worli residence and brought her to Khar. Till that time it was known to the world that Sheena is Indrani’s sister.
However, Sheena’s brother Mikhail Bora revealed that Indrani is not their sister but mother. Following which Indrani too confessed that Sheena Bora is indeed her daughter from a relation from another man (not her first husband).
The same day Indrani broke down and even confessed that she murdered Sheena Bora. She was immediately arrested by the Khar Police and booked under section 34, 302 and 201 of the Indian Penal Code.
August 26 – Police arrested Sanjeev Khanna, Indrani’s ex-husband a co-accused in the Sheena Bora murder case. As stated by Mumbai Police Commissioner Sanjeev Khanna is the accomplice which the driver was talking above.
He was arrested from his friend’s house in Alipore, Kolkata after the Mumbai police questioned him for two hours and found discrepancies in his answers.
Meanwhile Peter Mukherjea, the former CEO of Star India is totally clueless about Indrani’s involvement in killing his own sister. Yes, unfortunately, even Peter didn’t know that Sheena Bora is Indrani’s daughter and not sister.
Besides, Mikhail Bora (Sheena’s brother and Indrani’s son) has conveyed to the media that he knows the exact reason why she has murdered but he is waiting for the day till she is kept in custody.
